Air Conditioning Issues
We’ve seen air conditioning problems, even in relatively new Hondas. The air conditioner doesn’t blow truly cold air. While the Honda might produce air, many in warmer climates wouldn’t consider it cold enough to truly help. You might also hear weird hissing noises under the dashboard which likely are the result of a leak or an improperly running motor somewhere.
Our best suggestion here is to bring your Honda Civic into Holland Auto Care and we’ll inspect the air conditioner to determine the source of the problem – then, of course, fix it.
Wiring and Electrical Problems
This one is a bit odd. Honda elected to coat much of the electrical wiring in the Honda Civic with soy. While this sounds like a non-issue, some Honda owners quickly learned rodents love to eat soy and can easily smell soy under the vehicle. Rats, mice, and other unpleasant creatures can get into the vehicle and eat away at the wiring sheath and cause some serious problems with the electrical in the vehicle.
If your Civic is having some seemingly phantom electrical issues, bring it into Holland Auto and we’ll help diagnose gnawing electrical problems.
High-Speed Hesitation
Some owners have reported issues with having the Civic not shift or accelerate well above 50 miles per hour. Among the issues we’ve found which were the causes included having the transmission fluid leak out or the turbo has stopped working. Both are fixable and Holland Auto is glad to help root out the cause of why it becomes more difficult to accelerate and merge on the highway.
Oil Leaks
While not an especially common problem, this can be a big one. The main seal which keeps oil from leaking into the combustion chamber can get worn out or broken in. The result is oil and gas mixing, which is not good for your vehicle at all. One of the suspicious signs is either an oil warning light or a dipstick which smells like gas. If you experience either one, take your vehicle to us at Holland Auto right away and we’ll get things sorted out.
Gas Mileage Problems
Also not very common, but some drivers have reported getting worse than expected gas mileage. While a lead foot can be a problem, there might also be efficiency issues within the vehicle, including filters which get dirty rather quickly. We’ll test your fuel system and filters to make sure they are clean and ready to get air through.
Conclusion
Honda Civics are great cars and love having them in our service department at Holland Auto. With regular maintenance, they can truly last a long time. We offer their problems as indicators showing no car is perfect, and you’ll want a second set of eyes looking at your vehicle often!
