Oil Leaks
Oil Leaks There is a difference between burning oil and leaking oil. In the case of the Acura RDX, an oil leak can readily occur if the oil pressure sensor comes out of place. What is now a drip can gradually become worse until either an oil light comes on or you notice the oil level dip when you check it.
Thankful, oil leaks are relatively easy to find and fix. In this case, replacing and reseating the oil pressure sensor will help. Come to Holland Car Care and we’ll make sure the oil stays in your RDX.
Limp Mode
The problem of the RDX entering limp mode – where it can’t travel as fast as expected, has come up and the issue is big enough to result in a Technical Service Bulletin from Acura. Some owners have reported their vehicle has simply lost power and dropped in speed unexpectedly, though an engine light did come on.
Many also reported pulling over and restarting fixed the problem at least temporarily. Holland Car Care can look at this issue to prevent your vehicle from having mechanical or electrical issues at a bad time.
Squeaky Breaks
While squeaky breaks don’t necessarily affect the performance of the RDX, the sound can be downright annoying and even embarrassing. Acura recently recognized the RDX as having issues with the original brake pads installed and can replace brakes which are making excessive noise. Headlights
Some drivers report issues with being able to see well at night as the halogen headlights on the RDX fade over time, though they do work. The issue applies primarily to lower trims of the RDX as the higher trims use HID or Xenon bulbs which maintain brightness over a longer period of time. There may be a potential electrical delivery issue here because drivers also noted replacement doesn’t help completely in the long term. If your RDX headlights seem dim, bring your vehicle to us as Holland Car Care Care and we’ll investigate.
